November was a month of changes that strongly impact how data is handled in IC Project. We focused on three areas that had long been coming up in conversations with users: fast information search, the ability to work with data outside the system, and more precise control over project finances.
The result is a contextual search engine covering the entire system, team workload export to an XLS file, and a thoroughly rebuilt financial module that allows planning and analyzing results down to a single task.
Below you’ll find a detailed description of each of these changes.
🔍 New contextual search engine
In complex systems, the problem isn’t a lack of data, but quickly reaching the right information. Until now, finding a specific task, comment, or stage often required remembering exactly where it was located.
The new contextual search engine solves this problem. From now on, a single search field scans the entire system at once. Projects, stages, boards, tasks, and comments are all available in one place, in real time.
After entering a phrase, the system immediately displays results, and clicking one takes you directly to the correct location and highlights the found fragment. There’s no need to scroll, guess, or jump between views.
The search engine also allows filtering result sources. You can decide whether you want to search the entire system or only specific areas, such as tasks only or comments only. Everything works quickly and without reloading the view.
Additionally, the search engine is available from the keyboard. The ⌘K shortcut on Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows launches it instantly, regardless of where you currently are in the system. For each result, you can immediately go to the item, open it in a new tab, or copy the link and send it to someone on your team.
This is one of those features that truly changes everyday work, especially in organizations with a large number of projects and a long activity history.
📤 Team workload export to XLS
The workload module has always been used to control planned working time and team overload. Until now, however, all data was locked inside the system.
In November, we added the ability to export full team workload data to an XLS file. With one click, you can download exactly what you see in the workload module, along with a full breakdown of planned working time and overloads.
This allows workload data to be further analyzed in Excel or Google Sheets, compared with other reports, or shared with operational teams and management. It’s the first such feature that allows team workload data to be taken outside IC Project.
Workload export is a major value for team leaders, project managers, and operational departments that need hard data for reporting and resource planning.
To use this feature, simply go to the workload module and click “Export to XLS.” The file downloads automatically, with no additional settings.
💰 Expanded financial module
The November update to the financial module is one of the biggest changes in this area in a long time. Finances in IC Project are no longer just a high-level summary of costs and revenues.
You can now plan and analyze finances at the level of individual tasks. Each board can be expanded to show tasks, and you can assign costs and revenues exactly where they actually occur. The system automatically recalculates values at higher project levels, maintaining full data consistency.
The module also introduces a planned financial result column. It shows the difference between planned revenue and planned cost, and color indicators immediately signal deviations from the plan. Green indicates results above assumptions, while red signals a drop below plan.
In addition, the financial module has been equipped with filters and view customization options. You can narrow data down to selected project elements and create your own financial views tailored to current analytical needs.
The entire financial module can now also be exported to an XLS file, making further analysis or cooperation with finance teams easier. Every financial change is recorded in the activity log, so you know exactly who changed what and when. This is an important step toward full transparency and security of financial data.
The November IC Project update introduces changes that bring order to working with information, data, and finances. The new search engine reduces search time to seconds, workload export opens data for further analysis, and the expanded financial module provides a level of control that was previously missing.
These are features that teams working at scale will particularly appreciate, but all system users will feel the real difference - every single day.
